ABOUT US
Mikser, a cultural organization that emerged as a result of the energy of creative enthusiasts who returned to Belgrade from abroad after the events of October 5th, has, over the course of two decades, showcased thousands of young artists and creatives through its platforms.
Mikser Festival, Mikser House, Young Balkan Designers, Black BoX, and Refugee aid Miksalište are undoubtedly the most important platforms within the organization’s work, which has organized over 3,000 cultural events, big and small, in the past twenty years.
Today, within Mikser’s core team, eight individuals are working on several European projects, preparing for festivals, and managing other platforms.
We highlight 12 international creativity festivals / Mikser Festival / two cultural centers / Mikser House, Belgrade and Sarajevo / a refugee reception center from the Middle East / Miksalište /.
Innovation, sustainable and socially engaged ideas in design, architecture, and urbanism, new technologies and media, art, music, and communication have been the constant focus of Mikser throughout these years. Numerous talent platforms for young creatives such as Ghost Project, Young Serbian Designers, Young Balkan Designers, or Black Box are evidence that Mikser finds its main stronghold in working with young creators.
By listening to their voices, as well as the voices of a large number of local and regional partners and collaborators, Mikser represents the backbone of brave and independent thinking and a persistent advocate for changing the cultural paradigm in the country and the region.
Through the creative team of Mikser, over a hundred people have passed so far. Many of them now work as professionals in top creative environments around the world.
Mikser, the cultural organization, is an independent institution that has never aligned itself with any political option. While preserving its own values, Mikser has found ways to survive, preserve, and develop its activities and its relationship with the community in an honest and uncompromising manner.
Almost all major global media outlets, including leaders such as CNN, Le Figaro, or The Guardian, have covered Mikser’s activities. The common denominator of all these reports is that Mikser represents the energy of a new generation that completely changes the prevailing stereotype of the Balkans as a backward part of Europe that chronically lags behind trends.
