We Are Not Artists – Monolog Gallery

In the last few days, the news about the art collective “Neumetnost” (non-art) spread in Belgrade and social networks. Who are “not artists” and why do they claim they are not? You can find the answer to this question at the opening of the exhibition in the Belgrade Monolog gallery.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the works and authors such as David Đorđević, Teodora Kokoruš, Nebojša Đurić, Marija Milić, Milica Bojanić, Damjan Smićiklas, Dunja Savić and Teodora Jovanović, as well as the curators of the exhibition, Lena Blagojević and Milica Pantić.

Their message – we are not (only) artists, we have much more to offer – is aimed at strengthening ties between Serbian business and Serbian young talents, opening new opportunities and creating opportunities for projects and jobs, both for the industry itself and for young creators.

The authors of the project together with the curators Lena Blagojević and Milica Pantić reinterpret “non-art” and “non-artists” not as a rejection of art or a move towards commercialization, but as an assertion that art needs not to be endangered in order to succeed within the market system. “Artlessness” connects beauty and utility; art and business; showing that art and living systems can co-exist.

The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 7 p.m., in the Monolog gallery, at Kralja Petra 26, Belgrade.
