European House Belgrade – a fusion of culture, innovation, and meeting place

At the beginning of September, the European House was opened in Belgrade, on the corner of Knez Mihailova and Zmaj Jovina streets. It is more than 700 square meters of modernly arranged space that will serve as a school, theater, cinema, gallery, museum, and classroom in the future. The aim is to create stronger cultural and value bonds between Serbia and the EU.

The European House officials say that with diverse content, they plan to promote mutual understanding, share common values , and strengthen cooperation, actively supporting Serbia’s European integration process.

The idea is for it to be a place where Serbian citizens jointly and actively participate in building the country’s European future. It will be a space in which open dialogue and the exchange of ideas will be encouraged and cooperation between Serbia and the European Union will be strengthened, creating space for a society that shares common values and goals.

“Welcome to the European House, a place that stands as a symbol of our common European identity, where unity, diversity, and cooperation come to the fore. Here, we celebrate what makes us different and what unites us. We invite you to come and visit us. And, a place where people, cultures, and ideas meet. The European House, our meeting place where the door is always open to you”, said the Ambassador of the European Union in Serbia, Emanuele Giofre, at the opening, as reported by local media.

The official opening on September 4 was accompanied by an artistic work – a painted model of a house that symbolizes togetherness, in which six artists from Serbia and the EU participated, with a special musical background by composers originally from Ukraine and Serbia. The exhibition of their works in the European House will last until September 11.

As a symbol of cultural enrichment and innovation, the European House invites everyone to join in shaping the future of Europe. Whether visiting exhibitions, participating in debates and conferences, or enjoying cultural performances, this new symbol promises to be a vibrant hub where ideas flourish, connections last, unity, diversity, inclusion, tolerance, and cooperation are fostered.
