Mikser festival and the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade invite young authors to participate in the new edition of the art competition BLACK BOX and by May 17, 2026, submit their works on this year’s theme “EVERYTHING WE HAVEN’T SAID”. The call is open to all creators from the region. The selected works will be part of the group multimedia exhibition Black Box at the Mikser festival 2026 in Novi Pazar, from June 5 to 7.
The theme of this year’s competition, “Everything we haven’t said”, is inspired by the complex space of silence that shapes interpersonal relationships. Artists are invited to explore the space between the spoken and the unspoken, and to articulate through their works what remains “between the lines” – suppressed emotions, unsaid truths, fears, but also unspoken words of tenderness and support.
The competition encompasses a wide range of formats – from physical installations and interventions in public space, to performance and digital art forms such as video, animation, sound and interactive works. Special emphasis is placed on artistic interventions that directly communicate with the urban space and the audience.
The quality of the works will be decided by an expert international jury made up of recognized artists, educators and activists: Martina Tritthart (Vienna), Dejan Atanacković (Florence), Aida Ćorović (Novi Pazar), Marko Lađušić (Belgrade) and Maja Lalić (Belgrade).
The awarded works will be part of the exhibition “Black Box 2026: Everything we haven’t said”, which will permeate the public spaces of Novi Pazar for the duration of the festival. The authors will participate in the accompanying program, including talks and workshops with jury members, as well as get access to the musical program of the festival. The Black Box Award 2026 prizes will be awarded at the closing ceremony.
Applications are submitted via the online form. The deadline for the application is May 17, 2026 at midnight, while the results of the competition will be published on May 22, 2026.
