Great news coming from Mikser!
Independent Theater from Budapest, Basca Theater from Timisoara, Mikser from Belgrade joined forces in the implementation of a one-year project called “Theater in One car” which is co-financed by the European Union. The idea of the project is the production of sustainable plays that can all fit in one car, including scenography and costumes. The materials we will use will be environmentally friendly and economical, and the cast will be limited to only two actors who can play multiple characters. And then we will travel a bit and play shows in smaller places on the three borders of Romania, Serbia, Hungary!
We invite independent theater teams to join us. First, we are going to a five-day workshop in Budapest from January 23 to 27, where they will have the opportunity to learn the skills of creating plays with just two actors, how to involve the audience and get feedback from them, how to create sustainable and easy portable costumes and what is perhaps the most important, how to authentically and non-stereotypically portray members of rural and marginalized communities on the theater stage.Don’t worry, we cover all travel and accommodation costs.
Who can apply?
Theater artists who are active as playwrights, directors, actors and/or designers; are over 18 years old; speak English fluently; live in the European Union or Serbia; they are interested in social, environmental and topics related to rural communities; are open to participating in an interdisciplinary workshop, where they will discuss the tasks and aspects of other theater professions (playwright, director, actor, designer); support European values, inclusion and diversity; want to participate in the creation of a new performance and its dissemination in rural communities together with interactive accompanying artistic activities; have the capacity to realize their common theme/idea.
We also welcome applications from members of artistic groups (composed of 2-3 people) who would like to realize the same performance and accompanying activity as co-creators (eg playwright-actor, director-designer).
What Happens After the Workshop?
We have the capacity to support the realization of at least four different performances and accompanying activities. Three of them will be performances of partner organizations and at least one external performance will be financed with an amount of up to 10,000 euros (covering the direct costs of creation).

You can register with your concept no later than November 30 at 5 p.m., while on December 12 we will announce the names of the selected teams that will meet at the workshop in Budapest.
